Project Support Area (Health Promotion Program Proposal)
As you work on your Health Promotion Program Proposal, you post updates on your progress in the Project Support Area in Modules 2–4. This is an opportunity to gain valuable feedback on your proposal prior to the due date, so it is important that you actively participate in this support area.
By Day 10, post an update on the progress you are making on your Health Promotion Program Proposal. Topics for discussion include the community you have identified, the program planning model you have selected, and the rationale for the selection.
Support your work with specific citations from this module’s Learning Resources and additional scholarly sources as appropriate. Refer to the Essential Guide to APA Style for Walden Students to ensure that your in-text citations and reference list are correct
2. Attributes of Successful Leaders
Prepare for this Discussion by interviewing a leader you know and admire. Ideally this will be someone in public health, but it may be a leader in another sector such as business, academia, or health care. You may conduct this interview by phone or, if feasible, in person. (Make sure to take detailed notes or record the interview after gaining permission.) If necessary, you may interview him or her by e-mail instead.
The purpose of this interview is to discover this person’s “leadership story.” That is, you should ask them how they got where they are, what they value, and any other questions you think would help you identify their strengths and assets as leaders and any challenges they overcame. To help you formulate your interview questions, review this week’s Learning Resources, including the video program on Leadership Models.
After completing the interview, reflect on what you have discovered about him or her in light of the leadership traits and styles you learned about this week.

- What are the most important lessons you learned about leadership from this interview?
- To what degree does he or she demonstrate the attributes of effective public health leaders?
